1940’s EVENTS IN EAST ANGLIA IN 2011 - I am interested in hearing from any traders, re-enactment groups etc. who may be interested in sending me any advertising material, novelty goods, business cards etc. to be included  in a ‘goody’ bag at some major 1940’s events in East Anglia in 2011. I realise that to traders in other parts of the country it may not be financially viable for them to travel to East Anglia, or there may be shows that clash here, and in other parts of the country that leave you unable to attend .But if you are a trader of 1940’s memorabilia, clothing/accessories , uniforms and associated goods, re enactors/ re enactment groups, I would like to help you by placing your advertising in a ‘goody bag’ free of charge to yourselves. One thing I have found when talking to casual visitors that would like to get involved, is the age old question ‘where do you get the stuff from’, well with your help I can let them know, who you are, where you are etc. It is down to them to contact you then. If you would like to try it out next year to see if it is worth your while, please contact me initially by email greg.briers1@ntlworld.com

DO YOU REMEMBER KIRKHAM AND WEETON CAMP NEAR BLACKPOOL? Did you know it has been here since the WW1 1916 etc.? In WW2 and the 40's and 50's 100,000's of soldiers went through their army transit camps. Perhap you remember Kirkham in the 40's. Now "Windmill Land" written in 1916 by Allen Clarke has been republished by the author's grandaughter as an eBook so that it is again available for all to read. The writings in this brilliant book of 1916 describe very well the places - Weeton - Kirkham - Poulton - Warton - Staining - Blackpool. All the roads were still there and in the 40's and 50s servicemen will have walked the same country lanes in search of the local women. So nothing has changed. This book could stir fond memories of those 40's and 50's or event later for those who served there or perhaps walked out with a member of the forces stationed there. JANE FRANCIS - with her highly successful appearances at 1940s events in Howarth, Saddleworth, Keighley and Heywood during 2010, Jane Francis has earned a deserved reputation as a class act. Dressed in full WAAF uniform or 40s dress, she is equally at home at large outdoor events or entertaining in smaller venues. Bringing a slightly more modern touch to her extensive repertoire of war-time songs, including all the old favourites, Jane also has a full act and PA system that suits pubs, clubs and hotels looking to stage a 40s night. We can also work closely with organisers to custom any event, with distance no object. Contact her 0753 038 7271 or see her website www.janefrancis.biz
