THE GOLDEN YEARS AT RINGWAY AIRPORT, PART OF THE TAS FESTIVAL
Manchester Airport Runway Visitor Park (off A538 Wilmslow Road, Near The Romper Pub), Manchester - Postcode: WA15 8XQ (North West England)
16-17 July 2016 10.00am – 5.00pm (Gates open to the public at 8:00am)
A 1940s event with a cast of thousands - literally! Joining re-enactors in and around the 1940s zone at Runway Visitor Park is a supporting cast of vintage vehicles and aircraft.

The Festival, which is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors across the weekend, is commemorating a number of anniversaries at this famous aerodrome. The first flight of the Lancaster Bomber took place 75 years ago from Ringway Airport. An exhibition called 'The Golden Years' will celebrate the airport's first 30 years, from 1938, which witnessed a wartime aerodrome, with paratroopers and Spitfires, change into a busy commercial aerodrome, with piston engine aircraft connecting Manchester to the world.

The 1940s zone is now an integral part of the Festival, featuring the Spitfire Display Team, vintage military vehicles, an army camp, NAAFI tent, and a Battle of Britain memorial flight taking place. Back once more by popular demand, providing the live entertainment on both days, is the fabulous LANCASHIRE BELLE.

There is plenty more going at Runway over the weekend. The Concorde Hangar will be turned into a massive transport memorabilia and craft fair. Concorde itself, and other exhibits in the Park, will be open for viewing throughout the weekend. Over 500 classic cars, a parade of traction engines, hot air balloons, and over 700 aircraft landing and taking off at close quarters can be seen - including several visits by the world's largest aircraft, the Airbus A380. A flypast by a vintage 1940s Dakota will help bring back memories of the airport in its golden age. Flight simulators, fire engines, a beer tent and BBQ, children's rides and great music all come together to make a fantastic family day out at a very unique venue!

1940s period re-enactors, who must register in advance and wear 1940s allied military or civilian clothes on the day, are offered free entry all weekend. To register, contact: chairman@tasmanchester.co.uk For any re-enactors who wish to exhibit, please contact the Secretary on secretary@tasmanchester.co.uk
Normal entry fee is £5 per person (under-3s free). Free parking for all visitors.

RAMSEY 1940S WEEKEND
The Camp, Wood Lane, Ramsey, Cambs - Postcode: PE26 2XB (East of England)
Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st August 2016

Celebrating our 14th 1940s weekend on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st August 2016. Join us at our unique site as we turn back time. An original search light battery unit, The Camp is situated on the outskirts of the town of Ramsey. The Camp, a ten acre site, will hold everything 40s. Immerse yourself with all the sights, sounds and tastes of the era. Living History displays are situated amongst the original wooden buildings with vintage military, civilian and commercial vehicles exhibited all around. Re-enactors mingle with visitors and add to the atmosphere. This year we are once again very fortunate to have the original Jones’ van from the Dads Army BBC Television series at the Camp for the whole weekend. A lovely addition which fits in so well with the wartime setting. The Drill Hall will be one of the areas used for entertainment. Demonstrations will be given on war time cooking, and period hairdressing. A fashion show depicting clothes and trends of the 1940s will take place over the weekend. There will be numerous musical performances both days to suit everyone. The parade ground will be the setting for the bands appearing during the event. The canteen (NAAFI) will be open for spam sandwiches, bread pudding and anything else not on ration, with the 1940s garden being central to the Home Front displays.

In the adjacent 20 acre grass field we will again have the Big Top Circus tent just one of the available venues. All musical entertainment will be compared by DJ Major Swing aka Tim Handley. Musical interludes will take place here too between dance demonstrations and exhibitions given by the Cambs Beds and Lindy Experience. This year our entertainment team consists of Adam Hoffman, Ian Rose, Jayne Darling and Dickie Lines. Children are catered for too by Captain Silly Billy who will make sure that there will be lots of fun and laughter when he is performing. The children’s vintage funfair will be offering rides and thrills for little ones. An arena will be situated in the events field where displays will take place throughout the weekend. A cavalcade of vintage vehicles will parade around the ring allowing visitors a closer glimpse of wonderful machines.

Each day at 2.30 pm there will be a battle re-enactment at the rear of the event field complete with firepower and visual effects.

Take time and meander between the trade stands and stalls selling their wares including vintage clothing, military and home front memorabilia and collectors’ items. You will also find the catering and licensed bar facilities here along with the funfair and displays of post 1940s classic vehicles. Tank rides will be available for the adventurous and a free vintage omnibus will shuttle people to and from the town to the event site over the weekend for those who wish to visit Ramsey.

AVA WW2 DANCE & PARTY NIGHTS WITH DJ LYNNE & HOST TERRY
The Engine Shed, Steam & Moorland Garden Centre, Malton Rd, Pickering - Postcode: YO18 7JW (Yorkshire and the Humber)
PICKERING WAR-WEEKEND

DJ Lynne and Host Terry present their popular
AvA WW2 Dance & Party Nights
(formerly Wrelton Party Nights)

Friday & Saturday 14th/15th October 2016

The Engine Shed (new venue) PICKERING
Steam and Moorland Garden Centre, Malton Road, Pickering, YO18 7JW

Events commence at 7.30pm to 11.15 pm (Doors Open 6.30pm)

If you want great fun – this is definitely the place to come for GENUINE WW2 music, albeit at a new venue !

After entertaining at WW2 events in Wrelton Village Hall over the past 13 years, DJ Lynne and Host Terry are taking their popular nostalgic WW2 Dance and Party Nights - with music and fun from the War Years - to a new slightly larger venue at The Shed in Pickering, which offers excellent facilities including catering, licensed bar, lift and a disabled toilet: it is ideally located in 0close proximity to Pickering Showground.

The events will include original soundtrack reflections of selected moments from those WW2 years, but as usual the main focus will continue to be Party Fun and Dancing to your favourite music of this era that will include waltzes, foxtrots, swing, jitterbug, the valeta, St Bernard Waltz, military two step, cha cha cha, barn dance, cokey cokey, charlston etc - as well as some surprises, as usual, thrown in by DJ Lynne and Host Terry (and maybe even the odd party game and “in-house cabaret” act!). Plus, of course, a delicious buffet! The Party will also comprise some WW2 community singing and conclude with The Exhortation (as a mark of respect) and – now by tradition - with Land of Hope & Glory plus Vera Lynne's famous song We'll Meet Again!

Because there will be a fully licensed bar, own drinks can no longer be permitted as a Condition of our use of the premises.

With the price of tickets remaining STILL THE SAME as in previous years at just £15 per ticket, this represents excellent value for nearly four hours’ entertainment in a new exciting venue that is located very close to Pickering Showground with generous parking facilities, a good size dance floor, a great buffet and the added benefit of being entertained in a very friendly atmosphere!

So come in your uniforms and 1940’s attire (very important) and party with us ! !

You can even e-mail the Organisers in advance with your own ideas – or even to volunteer to do a cabaret act! – to: avaww2parties@outlook.com.

Tickets are available NOW direct from the Organisers by sending them a stamped/addressed envelope after calling 01751 432811 or e-mailing us (see above) for address details etc (payment by cheques only or direct into a bank account)

Kindly note that Pickering Tourist Information Centre is now closed and hence no longer selling tickets for the event as in the past with credit/debit card facilities.

Net proceeds will benefit again the Registered charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care – in 2015, a sum of £1,346.66 benefited this very worthy charity from our WW2 events.

Tickets £15 FREE parking Delicious buffet Licensed bar Fab WW2 dancing!

ONLY 13 TICKETS LEFT FOR SATURDAY NIGHT !
STILL PLENTY OF TICKETS LEFT FOR FRIDAY NIGHT !

LOST SPIVS CASE
My name is Dan Hyndman from Nottingham. I am in the throws of preparing all my kit for the new 1940s season, when I have discovered that I have apparently lost my Spivs Case. It is brown in colour the usual type of pressed cardboard with 2 metal latch type fasteners its about 16" long about 12 " inches wide & about 5 inches thick, the main thing inside it was some magicians tricks, (i used to be a Close up magician) a period 1940s ladies pink Corset & other 40s gear, I do quite a few Characters, so cannot remember the last time I used it, it is a nice quality dark brown case, not the normal cheap type of the 40s, I think I had it at Cosby in Leicestershire, but not sure. £25 reward. Can any one help me to get it back. 07973 722275 or 01949 829346 email hyndman999@btinternet.com
