DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
Victoria Function Rooms, Batley - Postcode: WF17 8PA (Yorkshire and the Humber)
As a curtain raiser to Batley Vintage Day we present a night of 1940s dance and music. Taking you back to yesteryear with the music and dances that remain as popular today as they were then.
We are delighted to be able to repeat the dance that proved so popular before last year's Vintage Day, with a return headline performance from the fabulous Miss Natasha Harper. And the dance would not be complete without Big George on the decks, and the fancy footwork of the Andersons.
Tickets are only £12.50 each with includes a hot supper - meat free option available. With a large dance floor and a fully licensed bar what more could you possibly need to help get ready for the fun of Vintage Day.
So grab your dancing shoes and come along for an evening of fun with friends old and new. And if dancing is not your thing, then sit back relax and enjoy the music and atmosphere.
This dance sold out completely last year so early booking is strongly recommended. We look forward to seeing you there.

A great night out with live music from Miss Natasha Harper and Big George on the decks. Guaranteed to keep you out of your seat and on the dance floor.

ADVINTAGEOUS POP-UP VINTAGE FAIR
Batley Vintage Day - Postcode: WF17 5DE (Yorkshire and the Humber)
The AdVintageous Team are delighted to have been invited back to provide the Vintage Stalls in Batley Market Square.
This year we will be adding more stalls to the previous 30 strong vintage stallholders.
It was a day the like of which Batley had never seen before, well not since the 1940s at least. On 31 May, 2014 the clock was rolled back, as were the decades and the vintage years came back to town. And what a fantastic day it was. The weather was certainly kind and the sun kept shining all day long. With a footfall estimated at around 10,000 people for the day, the town centre was packed with people and full of things to see and do. Lots of people came along in vintage dress which added to the atmosphere.
There will be musical entertainment on the main stage and the crowds will be treated to music from across the decades from the 1920s through until late 1950s rock 'n' roll. Vintage vehicles will hot foot it into town again from 1920s roadsters, military vehicles, 1950s American muscle cars and many many more.
The Vintage DJs will set themselves up in the NAAFI tent and dance area where you can have a boogie, grab a nice cup of tea and a slab of cake! There will be a host of activities throughout the day and we can definitely say it was a day to remember so we're doing it all again on 30 May, 2015, don't forget to put that in your diary.

It was a day the like of which Batley has never seen before, well not since the 1940s at least. On 31 May, 2014 the clock was rolled back, as were the decades and the vintage years came back to town. And what a fantastic day it was.
So good, that we just had to do it all again. Only bigger still this year.
With the main stage in the Market Place, we are delighted to confirm the return of Mr Paul Harper as our compere for the day. With his own unique mix of music, comedy and banter Paul is sure to keep everyone entertained. And joining Paul we have the fantastic Miss Natasha Harper, back to wow the crowds again. Also returning are Batley favourites Lula and the Bebops. All of you who saw their sets last year will agree that these guys are simply not to be missed.
Add to that line up Mr Brandyn Shaw. This is Brandyn's first appearance at Vintage Day, and we are delighted to have one of the most sort after performers around on the bill.
More acts to follow.
The entertainment continues at the NAAFI tent in the memorial gardens. The place to be at last years event, with music all day long from specialist Vintage DJs Big George and the Andersons, and Major Swing and Kitty. Plus some guest spots from the main stage performers. Mrs M, Mrs T and the NAAFI tent ladies will be back providing tea and buns to keep everyone going.

H4H 4X4 RALLY D-DAY FUNDRAISER
Town Mills, Andover, Hampshire - Postcode: SP10 1BL (South West England)
Hello girls!

We (Frank, Andy & Anne-Marie) are three friends who have teamed up to take part in the H4H 4x4 European Rally (www.h4hrally.co.uk). Each team pays their not insignificant entry fee and all expenses for the 3000 mile round trip and are charged with raising their share of sponsor money on behalf of Help for Heroes.

As a team, we have set our target at £7000. This is our effort to help the rally, now in its sixth year, hit the million pound mark.

We have have been lucky enough to secure four fundraising events at the Town Mills (pub restaurant) in Andover, culminating in a D-Day theme night on the 6th of June.

We are looking for 1940's enthusiasts who would like to come along in their period outfits to help create the D-Day environment, have some fun and help us pry some cash from the pockets of the public.

We aim to have an appropriate musical act, period food and a raffle.

Frank

AIRFIELD ANARCHY MUD FEST
Newark Showground - Postcode: NG242NY (East Midlands)
Hi all, Thank you so much to all the lovely people who turned up at last year’s event, I'm sorry I wasn't able to get round you all to say thank you in person, being our first event it was pretty manic. In our second year we are going bigger and have therefore moved onto the Newark Showground offering great facilities for all. We have also moved the event to 13th/14th June so the weather should hopefully be a bit more favourable (touch wood).

The event is a RAF themed mud run and music festival with our affiliated charity being the RAF Benevolent Fund. It will be a lively atmosphere with estimates of 10,000 people visiting over the weekend. There is free camping Friday and Saturday nights so you could make a weekend of it.

We are looking for all aspects military related to both World Wars, highlighting the people, vehicles and atmosphere. We really want to educate people on what our ancestors had to go through to enable us to live the lives we do today, especially in, but not limited to the RAF.

Please get in contact if you would like to come along to our event, so I can be aware of numbers and sort out free entry.

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards

Tom

PALAIS DE DANSE: 1940S BLACK OUT BALL
Kidderminster Town Hall - Postcode: DY10 1DB (West Midlands)
A truly special way to spend the night of Saturday 27th June 2015 – ‘The Black-Out Ball’ at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Coinciding with and in support of the Severn Valley Railway 1940s Weekend - and the Royal British Legion, Brandyn Shaw and His 6 piece Rhythm Makers will get you dancing the night away to dance and novelty hits of the period.

Special guest artistes, Natasha and Paul Harper, provide additional vocal refrain and entertainment in their own inimitable style. Mark & Hoc Ewing will also be adding their famous 'Social & Novelty' dance demonstration and tuition.

For this evening in particular, the ‘Palais de Danse’ actively encourages historical enthusiasts and re-enactors to help create a truly authentic evening of music and dance, as we also pay tribute to the men and women who sacrificed so much to keep our country safe and free.

Kidderminster Town Hall opened its doors in 1855 and since then has been at the heart of the district's social calendar. This landmark building has played a central role in the town's historical events and welcomed many royal visitors and dignitaries. Speeches of eminent leaders such as a young Winston Churchill, Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, explorer Earnest Shackleton and women's rights campaigner Emmeline Pankhurst have echoed off its walls.

During the 1930s and through the Second World War years, Kidderminster Town Hall became a popular dance hall and many local couples met whilst gliding round the dance floor in the Music Room.

Dress Code: Strictly Evening Wear and/or Allied Forces Military Dress Uniforms. No Fancy Dress or AXIS Uniforms will be admitted. The event has a fully licensed bar.

There will be great trade stands to look around, living history exhibits and NAAFI to enjoy a tea & doughnut.

We will also have living history groups, who will be set up on the field and parading through the Lacock Village streets.

WW2 period dress is encouraged to make Lacock Village come alive with the sights and sounds of the 1940's.

15th - 16th August 2015. Open 10am - 5pm.

Adults £3 Senior Citizens & Children £1.50 Under 5s FREE.

RAMSEY 1940S WEEKEND
The Camp, Wood Lane, Ramsey Cambridgeshire - Postcode: PE26 2XB (East of England)
Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd August 2015
Ramsey 1940s are celebrating our 13th 1940s weekend on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd August 2015. Join us at our unique site as we turn back time. An original search light battery unit, The Camp is situated on the outskirts of the town of Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. The ten acre site will hold everything 40s. Immerse yourself with all the sights, sounds and tastes of the era. Living History displays situated amongst the original wooden buildings with vintage military, civilian and commercial vehicles exhibited all around. Re-enactors mingle with visitors and add to the atmosphere. The canteen will be open for spam sandwiches, bread pudding and anything else not on ration. The 1940s garden close by being central to the Home Front displays. There will be war time cooking demonstrations taking place
The entertainment on offer is again first rate. This year there will be performances both days by Mr Paul Casper aka George Formby, Mr Adam Hoffman and Ian Rose all returning this year to amuse everyone. We welcome for the first time at Ramsey 1940s Miss Madeline Brown a very versatile singer. All musical entertainment will be compared by DJ Major Swing Mr Tim Handley. We are lucky to have several areas where our entertainment takes place. We have the Big Top Circus tent offering seating for 500+, The Drill Hall complete with stage area for smaller gatherings, the parade ground for outside entertainment and this year we plan to have an area in the event field too. All venues will be used throughout the weekend. The venues are as varied as the entertainment. Sit and enjoy the music of the East of England Pipeband on Saturday and on Sunday The City of Ely Military Band will perform in a concert in the afternoon after playing at the Drum Head Service. You will be spoilt for choice on Sunday as the Telstar Big Band will be playing music of the era in the Big Top during the afternoon.
This year we are very fortunate to have the return of the original Jones’ van from the Dads Army BBC Television series at the Camp for the whole weekend. A lovely addition which proved last year that everyone still loves Dad’s Army and the vehicle fits in so well with the wartime setting.
In the adjacent 20 acre grass field we will again have the Big Top Circus Tent. Musical interludes will take place here between dance demonstrations and exhibitions given by the Cambs Beds and Lindy Experience. CABLE are so experienced and whether a novice or a regular dancer there is always something to learn from them. Their novelty dances ensure that everyone has a brilliant time and they make sure all present join them on the dance floor. On Sunday Morning at 11.00am the moving Drum Head Service takes place in the Big Top commemorating and remembering all those who fought and died in world conflicts.
Take time and meander between the trade stands and stalls selling their wares including vintage clothing, military and home front memorabilia and collector’s items. You will also find the catering and licensed bar facilities here along with the funfair and displays of post 1940s classic vehicles. Tank rides will be available for the adventurous.A free vintage omnibus will shuttle people to and from the town to the event site over the weekend for those who wish to visit Ramsey.
We have requested that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight pay us a visit over the weekend but as yet this has not been confirmed. We will have a Spitfire and a Messerschmitt fly over the site on both days. As with all flying, these visits will be dependent on the wind and weather being favourable and cannot be guaranteed.

VE DAY 70TH AND BATTLE OF BRITAIN 75TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT & DANCE
Thinktank ( Birmingham Science Museum), Millennium Point,Curzon Street , Birmingham - Postcode: B4 7XG (West Midlands)
The Spitfire and Hurricane , two aircraft that will forever hold a very special place in the hearts and minds of the nation they helped save from the threat of German invasion in those dark days of WW2 in the summer of 1940.
75 years on a special concert and dance is being organized by Midlands vocalist and compare Gary Lewis to be held at the Birmingham Science Museum (thinktank) on Saturday the September 5th . The event will also coincide with the 70th anniversary of VE Day , 50 years since the death of Winston Churchill and what would have been Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday.
Gary Said "Did you know that Birmingham produced over 60% of all Spitfires built during the Second World War (at the Castle Bromwich works, now Jaguar). I thought it would be a fitting tribute in this anniversary year to
highlight not only the brave young airmen of the RAF , but also the workforce who assemble them . I hope to have a number of surviving RAF veterans and Castle Bromwich workforce personnel at the event as 'Guests Of Honour!".
The Castle Bromwich workforce (many of them women) worked day and night to supply 'The Few' as Winston Churchill would famously call them with new Spitfires . Although the Spitfire stole the limelight , it was the
rugged Hawker Hurricane that actually shot down more aircraft during the Battle Of Britain , something that's regularly forgotten or not always mentioned in the history books.
Gary said "The museums Hurricane will take centre stage along with the Spitfire that's on display , it was the perfect partnership, the Hurricane would deal with the slower bombers , whilst the more agile Spitfire would take on the formidable German fighter plane the Messerschmitt 109". Together the turned the tide of the battle inflicting the Germans first defeat and the postponement of the planned invasion" .
Concert goers will have the unique opportunity to dance under the museums Spitfire and Hurricane to the sound of Glenn Miller and listen to the songs of Frank Sinatra. There will also be band performances of famous movie themes such as ‘ Battle of Britain’and ‘Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines’
Gary said " This will probably be one of the last opportunities the City can say thank you to these people ,we need to while we still can.

A one off and unique opportunity to commemorate great moments and people in history and dance to the sound of Glenn Miller under the two aircraft that helped save the nation, the Spitfire and Hurricane.

VINTAGE SPORTS CAR FESTIVAL
Snetterton Circuit - Postcode: NR16 2JU (East Midlands)
The Vintage Sports-Car Club made their first foray to Norfolk in 2012, with an event on the 2 mile Snetterton '200' circuit. The VSCC was formed in 1934 with a cut-off date of vehicles manufactured by 1931 and you will see many fine vintage cars, plus a lot of post-vintage thoroughbreds - cars built between 1931 and 1940 but adhering to earlier standards - plus the best post-war cars such as the Grand Prix and sports racing cars of the 1950s.
With a huge entry list expected this weekend, 90 years of the Austin 7 will be celebrated, as well as the 50th running of the club's Spero and Voiturette Trophy Race for small capacity cars.
Pre 1931 racers will contest the illustrious Vintage Seaman Trophy, featuring a 24 litre Napier Bentley, amongst Morgan three wheelers, and 1950s Sports Racing Cars will recall the legendary Autosport 3 Hour Races. Also from that decade will be 500cc Formula 3 racers.
Don't miss a nostalgic throwback to a glorious bygone era!

LIVE MUSIC
To help put you in the vintage spirit, The Ashby Big Band will be playing sets throughout the day. The band is one of the best Glenn Miller/Swing When You're Winning tribute bands in the country.

LOST SPIVS CASE
My name is Dan Hyndman from Nottingham. I am in the throws of preparing all my kit for the new 1940s season, when I have discovered that I have apparently lost my Spivs Case. It is brown in colour the usual type of pressed cardboard with 2 metal latch type fasteners its about 16" long about 12 " inches wide & about 5 inches thick, the main thing inside it was some magicians tricks, (i used to be a Close up magician) a period 1940s ladies pink Corset & other 40s gear, I do quite a few Characters, so cannot remember the last time I used it, it is a nice quality dark brown case, not the normal cheap type of the 40s, I think I had it at Cosby in Leicestershire, but not sure. £25 reward. Can any one help me to get it back. 07973 722275 or 01949 829346 email hyndman999@btinternet.com
